Holiday Schedule 2020

City Facility Closings on Holidays

City of Georgetown offices and facilities will be closed on the following days in 2020:

  • Jan. 1 (Wednesday) New Year’s Day
  • Jan. 20 (Monday) Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • April 12 (Sunday) Easter
  • May 25 (Monday) Memorial Day
  • July 3 (Friday) Independence Day observed
  • Sept. 7 (Monday) Labor Day
  • Nov. 26 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
  • Nov. 27 (Friday) Thanksgiving holiday
  • Dec. 24 (Thursday) Christmas Eve
  • Dec. 25 (Friday) Christmas Day
  • Jan. 1, 2021 (Friday) New Year’s Day

Holiday closures include the following public facilities:

  • Animal Shelter, 110 W.L. Walden Drive
  • City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King, Jr. St.
  • Council and Courts Building, 510 W. Ninth St.
  • Georgetown Art Center, 816 S. Main St.
  • Library, 402 W. Eighth St.
  • Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Ave.
  • Municipal Court, 510 W. Ninth St.
  • Parks and Recreation Administration, 1101 N. College St.
  • Planning Department, 406 W. Eighth St.
  • Public Safety Operations and Training Center, Police Records and Fire Support Services offices, 3500 D.B. Wood Road
  • Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Ave.
  • Tennis Center, 400 Serenada Drive.

The Recreation Center at 1003 N. Austin Avenue and the Tennis Center at 400 Serenada Drive also will be closed on Sunday, April 12, for Easter.

The Recreation Center and the Tennis Center will be open on Friday, July 3, but closed Saturday, July 4.

Garey Park, 6450 RM 2243, will be closed Nov. 26, Dec. 24, and Dec. 25.

The Airport Terminal at 500 Terminal Drive will be closed on January 1, May 25, July 4, September 7, November 26, December 25, and January 1, 2021.

The Visitors Center, 103 W. Seventh St., will be closed Jan. 1, April 12, July 4, Nov. 26, and Dec. 25 and will close at noon on Dec. 24.

Solid Waste and Recycling Collection

There will be normal solid waste and recycling collection on holidays for Texas Disposal Systems customers in the City of Georgetown, with the exception of the following holidays. There will be no solid waste or recycling pickup on these days:

  • Jan. 1 (Wednesday) New Year’s Day
  • Nov. 26 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
  • Dec. 25 (Friday) Christmas Day
  • Jan. 1, 2021 (Friday) New Year’s Day

For customers with pickup days on or after these holidays, solid waste pickup will slide one day for the remainder of that week.

Solid waste and recycling collection carts should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on pickup day. For questions about solid waste collection, call Texas Disposal Systems at (512) 930-1715.

The Collection Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive will be closed on Jan. 1, Nov. 26, and Dec. 25 and will close at noon on Dec. 24.

GoGeo bus service

There will be no GoGeo service on these days:

  • Jan. 1 (Wednesday) New Year’s Day
  • Jan. 20 (Monday) Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • April 10 (Friday) Good Friday
  • May 25 (Monday) Memorial Day
  • July 4 (Saturday) Independence Day
  • Sept. 7 (Monday) Labor Day
  • Nov. 26 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
  • Nov. 27 (Friday) Thanksgiving holiday
  • Dec. 25 (Friday) Christmas Day
  • Jan. 1, 2020 (Friday) New Year’s Day

The bus will run on limited hours Dec. 24 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Swimming Pools

The City’s outdoor swimming pools will open for the summer season on Memorial Day weekend and will be open through mid-August. Pool hours and other information can be found on the Aquatics page at parks.georgetown.org.
