Holiday Schedule 2017

City Facility Closings on Holidays

City of Georgetown offices and facilities will be closed on the following days in 2017:

  • January 2 (Monday) New Year’s Day
  • January 16 (Monday) Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • April 16 (Sunday) Easter
  • May 29 (Monday) Memorial Day
  • July 4 (Tuesday) Independence Day
  • September 4 (Monday) Labor Day
  • November 23 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
  • November 24 (Friday) Thanksgiving holiday
  • December 25 (Monday) Christmas Day
  • December 26 (Tuesday) day after Christmas
  • January 1, 2018 (Monday) New Year’s Day

Holiday closures include the following public facilities:

  • Animal Shelter, 110 W.L. Walden Drive
  • City Hall, 113 E. Eighth Street
  • Economic Development, 809 Martin Luther King, Jr. Street
  • Georgetown Art Center, 816 S. Main Street
  • Library, 402 W. Eighth Street
  • Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Avenue
  • Municipal Court, 101 E. Seventh Street
  • Parks and Recreation Administration, 1101 N. College Street
  • Planning Department, 406 W. Eighth Street
  • Public Safety Operations and Training Center, Police Records and Fire Support Services offices, 3500 D.B. Wood Road
  • Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Avenue
  • Tennis Center, 400 Serenada Drive
  • Visitors Center, 103 W. Seventh Street

The Airport Terminal at 500 Terminal Drive will be closed on January 1, May 29, July 4, September 5, November 24, December 25, and January 1, 2018.

The Collection Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive will be closed on January 1, November 23 and December 25.

Solid Waste and Recycling Collection

 There will be normal solid waste and recycling collection on holidays for Texas Disposal Systems customers in the City of Georgetown, with the exception of the following holidays. There will be no solid waste or recycling pickup on these days:

  • January 2 (Monday) New Year’s Day
  • November 23 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
  • December 25 (Monday) Christmas Day
  • January 1, 2018 (Monday) New Year’s Day

For customers with pickup days on or after these holidays, solid waste and recycling pickup will slide one day for the remainder of that week.

Solid waste and recycling collection carts should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on pickup day. For questions about trash or recycling collection, call Texas Disposal Systems at (512) 930-1715.

The Collection Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive will be closed on January 2, November 23, and December 25 and will close at noon on December 24.

Swimming Pools

The City’s outdoor swimming pools will open for the summer season on Memorial Day weekend and will be open through mid-August. Pool hours and other information can be found on the Aquatics page at
