City closes parks and trails for Easter weekend

The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department will close all parks and trails from sunset Thursday, April 9, until sunrise Monday, April 13, to discourage gatherings of more than 10 people and to allow us to optimize our physical distancing goals as a community as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread in Georgetown.

“I recognize family activities are already limited, and holidays are a special time to gather with our loved ones. However, we simply cannot afford to take the risk. Your health and your family’s health are too important,” Georgetown Mayor Dale Ross said. “Please keep your family and your neighbors in mind as you plan your holiday celebrations. Continue to follow all the physical distancing guidance and other recommendations from public health and government officials. Do it for your family, for your neighbors, and for that special place we call home, Georgetown, Texas.”

Additionally, Williamson County has closed Berry Springs Park & Preserve, 1801 CR 152 in Georgetown, along with its closure of all County parks and trails during this time. Austin and Travis County have also closed parks and trails this weekend, and the State of Texas has closed State parks until further notice.

There will be signage along the trails and throughout City parks to remind residents that access is prohibited.

Blue Hole Park, park amenities, and City facilities remain closed to the public until further notice, with few exceptions.
