Curbside Recycling Services
City of Georgetown customers have curbside recycling. TDS furnishes each resident with a 18-gallon recycle bin; a second bin is also now available upon request at no additional cost. You must have a bin to participate in the recycling program. If a bin has not been provided, contact TDS at (512) 930-1715 and they will furnish one.
TDS uses a "two-bin" truck for recyclables: one bin for paper, the second for "co-mingled" items such as plastic beverage containers, alumininum cans, and glass. So as not to slow down the collection process, there are a few things you can do to help when recycling curbside:
Items should be placed in the recycle bin(s) at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day.
Place the bin in plain view on either side of the garbage container
Remove caps and lids from milk jugs, soda and water bottles
Rinse cans and bottles and flatten plastic bottles, if possible
Place co-mingle (cans, #1 and #2 plastics, etc.) on the bottom of the bin
Put newspapers on top of the other items in the bin or place in a paper bag (not plastic!) next to the bin
The City of Georgetown is currently researching ways to expand recycling opportunities, so check back frequently for updates.
