Support Services - Overview
The Support Services Bureau manages dispatch for police and fire, crime trend analysis, warrants, records and crime analysis, community resource programs, youth programs, Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program, victim services, Chaplains program, animal calls for service, nuisance, code violation, and rabies control. The Support Services has a Community Resource Team. This team provides home inspections and conducts presentations to citizens on crime prevention. The Support Services Bureau also maintains the Park Ranger Program. The Park Rangers are designed to help citizens feel safe in our parks and on the Hike and Bike Trails and to promote the desire of citizens to utilize these facilities. The Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) is a police department sanctioned organization that works with the Community Resource Officer to support community programs like Blue Santa, National Night Out, Safety Events, and many other programs. This bureau is also responsible for providing the Georgetown Independent School District with one School Resource Officer at the High School. The Warrant Unit is responsible for serving municipal warrants and assisting other agencies with their warrants. The Warrant Officer also serves a court bailiff for Municipal Court. The Records Division provides crime trend analysis and they are also responsible for record retention and issuing solicitors permits. Our Communications Operators provide communications to our police operations and answers calls for service from the public. All Communications Operators have received training mandated by the State of Texas. Animal Services responds to and resolves customer complaints in the following areas: animal nuisance, city code violations, animal welfare, rabies control and dangerous animals. The Support Services Bureau also has a Chaplains Program that is comprised of volunteer chaplains. They provide support to the officers and their families in times of need and are also available to assist officers with death notifications or counseling.
