Asst. Chief of Police
Kevin Stofle began his law enforcement career in 1978 in Grayson County, Texas as a Police Officer for the City of Whitesboro. After moving to Williamson County, he joined the Georgetown Police Department in 1982 serving as a Patrol Officer and then a Motorcycle Officer.
In 1985 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as a Patrol Watch Commander, and later supervised Narcotics Operations for the Criminal Investigation Division.
In 1990 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Services Division Commander. He later served as the Patrol Division Commander, and then the Administrative Commander. In 1996, as Patrol Division Commander, Stofle was selected as Manager of the Year for the City of Georgetown.
In 2001 he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police. He also serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Georgetown.
Chief Stofle has received two Distinguished Service Medals for bravery in the line of duty, two Meritorious Achievement Citations, and the award for Special Service to the Department.
In 2004 Chief Stofle was selected to travel to Belo Horizonte, Brazil to evaluate and provide technical assistance and instruction to the Military Police of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Chief Stofle holds a Master Peace Officer Certification and is a graduate of the 212th FBI National Academy as well as the Howard Prince School of Leadership. Chief Stofle is a licensed instructor with the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education and is a nationally certified instructor for the United States Department of Justice. He has been an instructor for the Texas Institute of Public Problem Solving at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas since 1998. He has given numerous presentations on Community Policing and Problem Solving case studies, including the Problem Oriented Policing Conference in San Diego, California and the Community Oriented Policing Conference in Washington, D.C.
