Smoke Detectors
The Georgetown Fire Services Division encourages all citizens to install and maintain approved smoke detection devices on each floor level of their residence.
Fire Services has a program called "Project We Care" where firefighters will install smoke detection devices in the residences of senior citizens, handicapped citizens, and persons living on a fixed income. The majority of fire deaths that occur in residential occupancies are caused by smoke inhalation, so it is important that you have the early warning of smoke.
For more information on smoke detectors or on our "Project We Care" program, contact the Georgetown Fire Services Division at (512) 930-FIRE (3473).
