LIGHT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Starting Salary: $13.01 - $16.82 Hourly DOQ
Closing Date: May 23, 2008

Performs duties to promote the safe and efficient construction and maintenance of the City’s streets. Drives various trucks including dump trucks, and other city vehicles. Sets forms for curbs, streets, driveways, sidewalks, and drain inlets. Paves roads and patches pot holes. HS graduation or equivalent, plus seven months to one year of construction experience required, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have or be able to acquire within 30 days of hire a Class B CDL Texas driver’s license. City of Georgetown application required. EOE


COMMUNITY PROJECT MANAGER

Starting Salary: $39,317 - $51,211 Annually DOE

This position establishes a central point of coordination within the organization for all of the City's redevelopment and economic development efforts to ensure a healthy balance of strategic growth and improved quality of life for the City of Georgetown's residents and visitors. Will focus on and centrally coordinate all of the City's large development, redevelopment and economic development efforts including, but not limited to, the implementation of the City's currently adopted redevelopment plans, as well as those planned and implemented in the future. Position will proactively market the City's development, redevelopment and economic development efforts to potential private sector development partners. Will also work closely with the development and economic development community to maintain a positive environment for continued investment in the community by facilitating private commercial and residential development, providing financial structure and incentive packages, and developing and implementing plans and strategies for revitalization in the community. Will work with the City's Community Development, Georgetown Utility Systems, and Economic Development departments and related Boards and Commissions to administer, strategically plan, organize, and direct community development, redevelopment, and economic development projects in the community, including streetscapes, real estate acquisition and disposition, public projects, planning and development for redevelopment districts and the recruitment and expansion of local business and industry. Additionally, this position will also work closely with these departments in the preparation of capital programs and budgets, facilities project financing, permitting, design and construction. Will also assist large projects through the City's process as they travel through the development and inspection phases for approval. He/she will be the central position to handle and address questions and troubleshoot problems between project managers and the City. Will also work with other City staff members to manage the City's participation in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, including developing projects and implantation of programs. Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or a related field and 3 to 5 years of experience at the level of Department Director, or position of similar responsibility required. Master's degree in Public Administration preferred. Large scale development, redevelopment and economic development experience and substantial experience in working with developers to consummate significant commercial and residential development and redevelopment projects also required. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid TX DL also required. City of Georgetown application required. EOE


CHIEF UTILITIES ANALYST

Starting Salary: $44,147 - $57,612 Annually DOE

The City of Georgetown is seeking an energetic, self motivated Chief Utilities Analyst to oversee accounting related issues for the City's utilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in utility rate analysis, capital improvement planning, utility revenue forecasting and other related areas. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance & Administration and assists in the City's annual budget process, as well as in preparing numerous monthly and annual financial reports. Acceptable experience and training include a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or related field, plus a minimum of six years work experience with increasing responsibility in a financial environment, including two years of project management experience and experience in budget, finance and revenue projections. Supervisory experience, as well as experience working with electric/FERC accounting is preferred. Certified Government Finance Officer or Certified Public Accountant designation highly preferred. STREETS FOREMAN

Starting Salary: $32,619 - $42,323 Annually DOE

Ensures the safe and efficient construction and maintenance of City streets. Serves as team leader and directs crews of Light and Heavy Equipment Operators in the Street Department to perform street maintenance and construction tasks. Must possess strong leadership and coaching skills. Must also posses sufficient computer skills required to complete work orders and basic word processing documents. HS graduation or equivalent, plus 3-5 years of experience in a related field which includes backhoe experience, forming and finishing concrete, and some supervisory experience required; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. SCADA SYSTEMS OPERATOR / TECHNICIAN

Starting Salary: $44,147 - $57,612 Annually DOE

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Electrical Division's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) hardware and operations software, which allows for control of the city's electric, water, wastewater and pumping systems. Perform programming and troubleshooting as necessary on SCADA system's Remote Terminal Units (RTU), substation communication processors, and relaying. Develop and implement methods and tools to allow Utility Department Operators to meet their informational/operational needs. Coordinate and present training for other Utility Department personnel as needed. Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Electrical Communications, Computer Systems, or related field, and one to three years of experience required. Experience with Windows NT, Lotus, MS Office, Wonderware, Motorola Moscad PLCs, and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories equipment as well as being adept with the Internet preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. ELECTRIC T&D ENGINEER

Starting Salary: $64,179 - $84,235 Annually DOE

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the design activities including planning, budgeting, and specifying electrical distribution facilities, substation and transmission facilities; approval of installing, testing and maintaining technical equipment within the T&D System; and in developing and maintaining various record systems required for the system as it expands. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience in directly related electric utility engineering field of which three years should be in planning and engineering design and some supervisory experience required. Knowledge of fiscal practices of budgeting and FERC accounting and economic analysis, and knowledge of Ercot protocols also required. Valid, appropriate Texas driver's license, Registration as a Professional Engineer in Texas, if registered in another state applicant must obtain Texas registration within 1 year of hire date. CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU and MAIN STREET PROGRAM INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The City of Georgetown has an internship program to offer students from varied disciplines an opportunity to assist the Tourism Director and staff at the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and Main Street program office located in downtown Georgetown. This position offers 15-20 hours per week, at $7.00 per hour and will be available until filled. The student should have the initiative to begin and successfully complete projects and various tasks assigned with little to no supervision, and the ability to maintain scheduled work hours. Transportation for local travel including deliveries and other city related errands may be required. Preferred candidate would be able to work through spring and summer semesters. Program Description:The student intern would be charged with:- Working with the City of Georgetown’s IT Department, as well as CVB staff, in revising and updating the CVB, Main Street program and other special event websites with up-to-date tourism and calendar of events information and photos.- Designing, producing and distributing a regular email/faxed newsletter to a database of tourism contacts (hotels, restaurants, local attractions) that he/she collects and keeps updated.- Conducting research on different downtown projects, as well as through online and intercept surveys he/she develops in order to determine the target market of local tourism attractions. COMBINATION BUILDING INSPECTOR

Starting Salary: $29,711-$38,475 per year DOE

The Combination Building Inspector inspects for building codes compliance for all phases of the residential and commercial construction process. Areas of responsibility include blueprint reading for residential plan review, issuing permits and blueprint reading for code compliance in the field for residential, commercial and industrial projects. Provides code interpretations, code enforcement for floodplain management, Unified Development Code (UDC), issues permits, calculates fees and completes inspection reports. Ensures efficient and accurate completion of development construction in an integrative fashion. Performs other duties as assigned. HS graduation or equivalent plus three to five years of experience as a Combination Building Inspector or Code Enforcement Officer or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Energy Inspector certifications, obtained through Standard Building Congress (SBCCI), International Code Council (ICC), International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO). Electrical knowledge and training of the National Electrical Code is preferred; a Texas State Plumbing Inspectors license is required (or must be able to obtain one within one year of employment) and a valid Texas drivers license. FIREFIGHTER

Starting Salary: $33,000 per year

The City of Georgetown is recruiting to establish an eligibility list for the Civil Service position of Firefighter (eligibility list will remain active for up to 1 year). Six positions tentatively approved for the 08/09 fiscal year. Duties will include responding to all fires, emergency medical, and rescues & recovery alarms; sustaining high level of preparedness for emergencies; maintaining vehicles & equipment for fire suppression/prevention and for rescue & recovery. Subject to callback for emergencies, special training and/or other administrative reasons. Must be at least 19 years of age & not be 36 years of age or older at time of hire. High School graduate or equivalent, basic firefighter certification/certifiable from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Technician (or higher) certification from Texas Department of State Health Services, and a valid Texas Class B-exempt Driver's License or CDL preferred. KID CITY COUNSELOR (Seasonal)

Camp Counselors will lead Day Camp activities for boys/girls ages 5-12. We are seeking mature, responsible individuals with previous experience in leadership and working with youth. A current Texas Drivers License and certification in CPR and First Aid are required. The camp session will begin with staff training June 30 – July 3. Camp will run from July 7th through August 1st. Camp hours are 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon, Monday - Friday. City of Georgetown Application required. EOE


CAMP GOODWATER COUNSELOR (Seasonal)

Starting Salary: $640.00 - $700.00 biweekly DOE

ADVENTURE CAMP SPECIALIST (Seasonal)

Starting Salary: $700.00 biweekly, $600 biweekly with housing

Adventure Camp Specialist will help direct Teen Adventure Camp activities for youth ages 12-17. We are seeking qualified individuals with previous experience in outdoor leadership and working with youth. A current Texas drivers License and certification in CPR and First Aid are required. Staff training begins May 27 and Adventure Camp will run from June 2nd - August 1st for a total of 9 weeks of pay. Duties include, but are not limited to, facilitating and supervising youth during daily and overnight adventure experiences, trip planning and preparation, cleaning and maintaining equipment and program evaluation.
