Engine (a.k.a. "pumper")
Definition : basic firefighting apparatus assigned to every station that responds to all types of rescues, fires and medical calls; carries a water supply and hose.
Fire EnginePrimary Roles : placement of hose lines to supply water for rescue, fire extinguishment, exposure protection, patient evaluation and stabilization on medical calls
Water carried : 500 gallons, plus 50 - 150 gallons Class B foam.
Equipment carried : medical equipment (including automatic defibrillator), a 1500 gallon-per-minute fire pump, hose, hydraulic rescue tool for vehicle accidents and water rescue gear, generator, thermal imaging camera.
Amount of Hose Carried : 1000-1200 feet of 5-inch hose, 800 feet of 3-inch hose, one 100-foot 1-inch quick attack hose line, two 200-foot 1-inch crosslays, two 150-foot of 1-inch hose (Skid Load), 150-foot booster reel hoseline, 100-foot high-rise pack, 150-foot 1-inch Wildland hose.
Staffing : 3 firefighters (1-Lieutenant, 1-Apparatus Operator, 1-Firefighter)

Quint (a.k.a. "Hook & Ladder", "Ladder", "Truck", or "Aerial")
Definition: something of a hybrid vehicle with capabilities of both an engine and a ladder. A quint is smaller than a ladder truck, which allows for better access in restricted space, but still carries water like an engine and has a 75-foot aerial ladder.
QuintPrimary Roles: dependant on conditions at time of arrival; may function as an engine company or ladder company; may conduct two operations simultaneously. Forcible entry, search and rescue, assist with evacuation, ventilation of structure, placement of ladders, check for fire extension, salvage, overhaul, placement of elevated water streams, secure structure.
Water carried: 500 gallons, plus 25 gallons Class B foam.
Equipment carried: 75-foot aerial ladder, 1500 gallon-per-minute fire pump, hydraulic rescue tool for vehicle extrication, forcible entry tools, generator and other rescue equipment, thermal imaging camera.
Amount of Hose Carried: 1000 feet of 5-inch hose, 600 feet of 3-inch hose, one 100-foot 1-inch quick attack hose line, two 200-foot of 1-inch crosslays, two 150-foot of 1-inch hose (Skid Load), 100-foot high-rise pack, 150-foot 1-inch Wildland hose.
Staffing: 3-4 firefighters (1-Lieutenant, 1-Apparatus Operator, 1 or 2-Firefighter)

Rescue
Definition: a vehicle that responds to hazardous material calls, rescue alarms and structure fires
Georgetown Fire Rescue VehiclePrimary Roles: to provide specialized rescue capabilities and hazardous materials mitigation, light the fireground when appropriate, and cut off utilities at fires.
Water carried: none
Equipment carried: high-powered lighting including a light tower, rescue tools, technical rescue equipment, water rescue equipment, dive gear, ventilation fan, assorted hand tools.
Staffing: unstaffed; staffed by engine company personnel when needed

Attack Truck (a.k.a. "brush truck")
Definition: four-wheel drive vehicle used for County response and to carry water into remote areas or rough terrain that engines cannot access
AttackPrimary Role: to reach fires that are located off-road and difficult to access such as brush and grass fires and structure fires.
Water carried: 750 gallons, plus 25 gallons of Class B foam and 10 gallons of Class A foam
Equipment carried: wildland firefighting hand tools
Amount of Hose Carried: 1500 feet of 3-inch hose, two 150-foot of 1-inch crosslays, two 150-foot of 1-inch hose (Skid Load), 150-foot booster reel hoseline.
Staffing: unstaffed; staffed by engine company personnel when needed

Tanker
Definition: a vehicle that carries a large supply of water used when there is inadequate City water supply, especially in remote areas
TankerPrimary Role: to provide an additional water supply
Water carried: 1,800 gallons
Equipment carried: 2,500 gallon portable tank, float-a-pump, 10 gallons Class A foam
Amount of Hose Carried: 300 feet of 3-inch hose, two 150-foot of 1-inch crosslays,
