(Standard Fire Code Sec. 602.5.1)
Firefighters must have access to fire hydrants at all times. Hydrants must be clear of tall plants and other obstructions for three (3) feet in all directions. If a hydrant is located on a corner, the area between the hydrant and the curb must also be free from tall plants and other obstructions.
Additionally, parking is considered an obstruction if a vehicle is parked within 15 feet of a fire hydrant by order of the Fire Marshal, per section 602.4.1 of the Fire Code.
