Holiday Schedule 2016

City Facility Closings on Holidays

City of Georgetown offices and facilities will be closed on the following days in 2016:

  • January 1 (Friday) New Year’s Day
  • January 18 (Monday) Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • March 27 (Sunday) Easter
  • May 30 (Monday) Memorial Day
  • July 4 (Monday) Independence Day
  • September 5 (Monday) Labor Day
  • November 24 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
  • November 25 (Friday) Thanksgiving holiday
  • December 23 (Friday) Christmas Eve observed
  • December 26 (Monday) Christmas Day observed
  • January 2, 2017 (Monday) New Year’s Day

Holiday closures include the following public facilities:

  • Animal Shelter, 110 W.L. Walden Drive
  • City Hall, 113 E. Eighth Street
  • Economic Development, 809 Martin Luther King, Jr. Street
  • Georgetown Art Center, 816 S. Main Street
  • Library, 402 W. Eighth Street
  • Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Avenue
  • Municipal Court, 101 E. Seventh Street
  • Parks and Recreation Administration, 1101 N. College Street
  • Planning Department, 406 W. Eighth Street
  • Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Avenue
  • Tennis Center, 400 Serenada Drive
  • Visitors Center, 103 W. Seventh Street

The Recreation Center at 1003 N. Austin Avenue also will be closed on Sunday, March 27 for Easter and Sunday, December 25 for Christmas and Sunday, January 1, 2017 for New Year’s.

The Airport Terminal at 500 Terminal Drive will be closed on January 1, May 30, July 4, September 5, November 24, December 25, and January 1, 2017.

The Collection Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive will be closed on January 1 and November 24 and will close at noon on December 24, and December 31.

Solid Waste and Recycling Collection

 There will be normal solid waste and recycling collection on holidays for Texas Disposal Systems customers in the City of Georgetown, with the exception of the following holidays. There will be no solid waste or recycling pickup on these days:

  • January 1 (Friday) New Year’s Day
  • November 24 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day

For customers with pickup days on or after these holidays, solid waste and recycling pickup will slide one day for the remainder of that week.

Solid waste and recycling collection carts should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on pickup day. For questions about trash or recycling collection, call Texas Disposal Systems at (512) 930-1715.

The Collection Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive will be closed on January 1 and November 24 and will close at noon on December 24, and December 31.

Swimming Pools

The City’s outdoor swimming pools will open for the summer season on Memorial Day weekend and will be open through mid-August. Pool hours and other information can be found on the Aquatics page at parks.georgetown.org.
