Holiday Schedule 2010
City Facility Closings on Holidays
City of Georgetown offices and facilities will be closed on the following days in 2010:
- January 1 (Thursday) New Year’s Day
- January 18 (Monday) Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- May 31 (Monday) Memorial Day
- July 5 (Monday) Independence Day observed
- September 6 (Monday) Labor Day
- November 25 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
- November 26 (Friday) day after Thanksgiving
- December 23 (Thursday) day before Christmas Eve
- December 24 (Friday) Christmas Eve
- December 31 (Friday) New Year’s Eve
Holiday closures include the following public facilities:
- Animal Shelter, 110 W.L. Walden Drive
- City Hall, 113 E. Eighth Street
- Georgetown Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Avenue
- Library, 402 W. Eighth Street
- Municipal Court, 101 E. Seventh Street
- Parks and Recreation Administration Building, 1101 N. College Street
- Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Avenue
- Tennis Center, 400 Serenada Drive
- Visitor Information Center, 101 W. Seventh Street
The Municipal Airport Terminal building will be closed January 1, May 31, July 4, September 6, November 25, and December 25.
Solid Waste and Recycling Collection
There will be normal trash and recycling collection on holidays for Texas Disposal Systems customers in the City of Georgetown, with the exception of the following holidays. There will be no solid waste or recycling pickup on these days:
- January 1 (Friday) New Year’s Day
- November 25 (Thursday) Thanksgiving Day
- December 25 (Saturday) Christmas Day
For customers with pickup days on or after these holidays, trash pickup will slide one day for the remainder of that week.
Trash collection carts and recycling bins should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on pickup day. For questions about trash or recycling collection, call Texas Disposal Systems at (512) 930-1715.
The Collection and Transfer Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive will be open normal hours, except for New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Swimming Pools
The City’s outdoor swimming pools will be open for Memorial Day weekend on May 29, 30, and 31. Regular summer hours for outdoor pools begin on Saturday, June 5. The City swimming pools will be open for the summer season through mid-August. Pool hours and other information can be found on the Aquatics page at parks.georgetown.org.
