The City of Georgetown adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate.

The tax rate will effectively be raised by positive 3.85 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately positive $4.89

Public Hearing on the Budget

There will be a public hearing at 6:00pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the City Council Chambers, located at 510 W 9th St, Georgetown, TX 78626, to receive public comment on the FY2023 Budget.

The proposed FY2023 budget is available for public review in the City Secretary’s office, located at 808 Martin Luther King Jr Street, Georgetown TX 78626; and on the City’s public website at finance.georgetown.org.

Proposed Annual Budget for October 1, 2022 – September 30, 2023 as filed with the City Secretary on August 5, 2022: This budget will raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget by an amount of $8,401,253, which is an 20.9% increase from last year’s budget. The property tax revenue to be raised from new property is $3,685,091. The amounts are based on the City’s proposed fiscal year 2023 property tax rate of 37.4 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

First reading of both the property tax and budget ordinances is scheduled for August 23, 2022 at 6:00pm at City Council Chambers, 510 W 9th St, Georgetown, Texas.
