Street Sealant Work Planned

The schedule for street sealant work has been updated and is detailed below. For the next few days, application of a street sealant or asphalt emulsion is planned for Williams Drive and Shell Road as well as residential streets in the Thousand Oaks subdivision.

The 25 mph speed limit will remain in effect on the arterials until the sealant is applied on August 6 – 7. Crews will continue to sweep areas where chip seal has been applied to remove loose rock. Road striping is scheduled for August 15.

Application of a polymer-based sealant is scheduled for August 9 – 20 on Sun City Boulevard, Cool Spring Way, and Pedernales Falls Drive.

No chip seal is planned this year for streets in Sun City.

Below is the schedule for sealant work on streets:

• August 5: Asphalt emulsion in Thousand Oaks subdivision
• August 6 – 7: Asphalt emulsion on Shell Road (Williams Drive to Westbury Lane/Bellaire Drive) Williams Drive (DB Wood/Shell Road to Sedro Trail)
• August 8: Asphalt emulsion in Thousand Oaks subdivision
• August 9 – 20: Polymer-based sealant (PMM) on Sun City Boulevard, Cool Spring Way, and Pedernales Falls Drive

The work schedule can be affected by weather conditions, mechanical issues, and product availability.

PMM Sealant

A sealant called Polymer Modified MasterSeal or PMM will be applied to Sun City Boulevard, Cool Spring Way, and Pedernales Falls Drive to provide a rubberized surface with added flexibility and adhesion. The sealant will improve the driving surface and increase protection from the weather. Public notification about the street sealant work will be done before work starts.
