yard 3 kinds 2 webYard trimmings collection moves to a monthly year-round schedule for City of Georgetown residents in the city limits starting October 1. The monthly yard trimmings collection day will be on the first recycling pickup day of that month for customers inside city limits.

There is no change in the monthly cost to customers as a result of the schedule change.

Branches should be bundled with twine, less than 35 pounds, and no more than four feet in length. Compostable brown paper lawn and leaf bags must be used for leaves, grass, or other organic material. Personal containers marked with home address and “yard” also can be used.

A maximum of 20 bags, bundles, or containers can be picked up per month. Any extra bags must have a paid bag tag attached. Extra bag tags may be purchased for $5 each at the Georgetown Utility Systems Customer Care Center, 300-1 Industrial Avenue.

Residents with extra yard trimmings in between a scheduled service day can use one of two allotted free bulky waste pick-ups by calling and scheduling with TDS at (512) 930-1715.

Yard trimmings collected at curbside are ground into mulch, which is free to all in-city customers. Yard trimmings also may be put in the trash cart, but they will be landfilled and not turned into mulch.

To look up your monthly yard trimmings collection day, go to recycle.georgetown.org/schedules, or call the Georgetown Utility Systems Customer Care Center at (512) 930-3640.
