Street Resurfacing Work August 19 – 28

Aug 17, 2015

Street resurfacing with a chip seal treatment on Williams Drive is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 19. Resurfacing on residential streets in the San Gabriel Heights neighborhood starts this week. Katy Crossing is scheduled to start next week.

Chip seal resurfacing involves applying a layer of emulsion to the roadway followed by a layer of small-sized gravel. Below is the planned work schedule.

August 19 – 21: Williams Drive (Serenada to DB Wood Road)

August 21 – 24: San Gabriel Heights neighborhood (near Leander Road) and Rockmoor Drive

August 24 – 25: Katy Crossing neighborhood

This schedule is weather-dependent and could be changed if there is rain.

Drivers should expect delays and look for flaggers in a moving work area. A pilot car may be used in some cases to escort vehicles through the construction area.

Drivers should reduce their speed and increase the spacing distance between vehicles to reduce problems with loose rock on roadway. Loose gravel will be removed from the road at the end of the day.

The contractor will sweep excess gravel from each road after the resurfacing work has been completed each day.

On August 26 – 28, a sealant will be applied to these streets. The sealant will improve the driving surface and increase protection from the weather. Expect lane closures and delays during the sealant application on these streets.

See the attached map for more information on the chip seal and sealant work schedule.
